Since it was founded by the late Robert W. Gilbert in 1945, Gilbert & Sackman has specialized in representing private and public sector labor unions and employee benefit plans. In all, Gilbert & Sackman currently represents more than fifty international and local labor unions and Taft-Hartley trust funds.
Since 1992, Gilbert & Sackman also has represented employees in class, representative, and collective actions under state and federal employment laws. The lawsuits have sought damages under state and federal wage and hour law, the federal WARN Act, and ERISA. The settlements in these cases have often been in the millions of dollars.
